AbstractMany data collections at the NASA Global Hydrology Resource Center Distributed Active Archive Center (GHRC DAAC) are inherently heterogeneous, as projects like field campaigns have data collected by multiple instrument types that are stored using various data formats. Data discoverability is more challenging due to the data variety. To better handle dataset publication processes, including Principal Investigator (PI) communication, the GHRC instituted the Data Publication Workflow Portal (DAPPeR), a variation of the tool used by the NASA Oak Ridge National Laboratory DAAC (ORNL DAAC). This tool helps to ensure consistent and accurate dataset metadata allowing for improved data discoverability. The DAPPeR tool can also be used to improve the metadata for already published datasets, bringing the information to current NASA metadata standards. This presentation will highlight how we use DAPPeR to perform dataset publication, generate and update metadata, improve data holdings, and improve data publication productivity at the GHRC. Future plans for greater use, generalization across DAACs, and improvements will be discussed.
