Geoffrey Stano

Biography

Dr. Geoffrey Stano is a research scientist with the Information Technology & Systems Center at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Specifically, he is working with the Global Hydrology Resource Center and serving as the Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC) scientist. He has 15 years of experience working in applications meteorology and has specifically worked with total lightning applications, collaborating with emergency managers, National Weather Service forecasters, and forecasters supporting space launch activities. Dr. Stano has served as the Geostationary Lightning Mapper satellite liaison and has been responsible for developing training for the National Weather Service and short course presentations for the American Meteorological Society. In addition, he currently serves as the chair of the American Meteorological Society’s Atmospheric Electricity Scientific and Technological Activities Commission.
