Lamar Hawkins

Biography

D. Lamar Hawkins graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) in 1993 with a Bachelor's degree in Optical Science.

Mr. Hawkins joined UAH’s Center for Applied Optics in January 1994 and was involved in writing image and optical metrology data processing and visualization software on multiple operating systems using several different programming languages.

In July 2000, Mr. Hawkins joined UAH’s Information Technology and Systems Center (ITSC) to automate data transfer, accounting, and statistics in support of NASA’s Aqua/AMSR-E instrument. This was followed by additional opportunities to develop software for data ingest, processing, and distribution.

In July 2011, Mr. Hawkins assumed the role of software operations/archive manager for ITSC and began an effort to standardize and streamline operational processing and implement uniform software controls for the Global Hydrology Resource Center (GHRC). Mr. Hawkins continues to serve in this capacity.
