glider download stalls on Chrome

Hi:

I have tried to download Glider 4.1 for PC yesterday and today using Chrome and also IE and the download stops after about 0.6 MB.

running glider

glider runs but exits immediately, doing nothing. I have java 1.6.0_22 on a 64 bit linux box (it has the 32 bit libraries also), a 3D graphics card and the open GL. Should I be able to run on this set up or is there some trouble shooting I can do?

glider for mac keeps crashing

I'm attempting to convert a level 1 MODIS file to a gld file. I cannot see the gld file unless I quit and restart glider. Once I see the file and attempt to open it in a visualization window the program crashes.

Problem opening 250m resolution MODIS images

I recently tried to view a MODIS 250m image with Glider and it failed. After converting to a glider file and trying to open the image the program closed itself.

I would suspect that this could be an issue with how the image is displayed as a default. I know that it automatically tries to create the true-color image. This of course is not possible with the 250m images since only channels 1 and 2 are available at 250m.

Sundar - GLIDER - v3.0 - WMS - April 12, 2010 (with Ken)

Really nice addition to this version.

However are all those paramters matched with the time of the MODIS image that is being DISPLAYED?

Sundar - GLIDER - v3.0 - DATA SETS???? - April 12, 2010 (with Ken)

When will we see other Data Sets

  • Level 2 MODIS aerosols - MOD04
  • Level 2 OMI aerosols
  • Level 2 - CERES fluxes
  • etc

to look at science scenarios

Sundar - GLIDER - v3.0 - Spectral Profile - April 12, 2010 (with Ken)

Spectral Profile must have Wavelenght on X axis in Ascending order NOT according to Band numbers

Sundar - GLIDER - v3.0 - SAMPLE data- April 12, 2010 (with Ken)

I still think that having two to three preprocessed gld files within the GLIDER package will be useful.

This way the user can test GLIDER without having to go look for MODIS data.

Sundar - GLIDER - v3.0 - Scatter plot- April 12, 2010 (with Ken)

TOOLs - Image Analysis - 2D Scatter Plots

Scatter plot needs Reflectance and Temperature Units

NOT

Gray Levels

Sundar - GLIDER - v3.0 - Transect profile - April 12, 2010 (with Ken)

Transect Profile ahs wrong label on Y axis : It should say GRAY Level

Also need a Transect box that has Distance on X axis

and Reflectance/Temperature on Y axis.

That will enable scientist to make decisiosn for classification.

Sundar - GLIDER - v3.0 - Histogram - April 12, 2010 (with Ken)

Y axis needs numbers

X axis must be in Geophysical Units - Reflectance and Temprature

NOT

Gray level

Sundar - GLIDER - v3.0 - Band Math- April 12, 2010 (with Ken)

Nice addition in this version.

However, need ability to do this on a subset of image - rather than entire image

Earth View Display on Windows - Graphic Driver Issues

Probable compatibility issues with Earth View

---------------------------------------------

Glider employs the World Wind Java (WWJ) SDK for displaying the satellite image on the Earth View which may exhibit display problems in older machines with outdated graphics drivers. World Wind Java requires a 3D capable display adapter with latest updated drivers. Please check the following pages for more information and instructions on updating your graphics drivers.

http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/java/

http://worldwindcentral.com/wiki/Video_Card_Compatibility

To test OpenGL compatibility level, you can download the OpenGL extensions viewer which gives a report of compatibility errors, if any. This tool also helps update the opengl and directx (in windows only) drivers in your machine.

(click on 'download' link near the top of the page. Choose 'opengl extensions viewer' in the 'File' dropdown menu with the appropriate platform (windows/Mac). This should download an executable with the name glview###)

The summary page of this application show the supported OpenGL version. Version 2.1 or above is highly recommended for error free operation.

No Documentation

OK, not really a bug, but I cannot find any written documentation on how to use GLIDER. Nor can I find out what file formats it supports. FYI, I can't use the tutorials - I have no speakers or headphones.

Also, I can find no other way to contact anyone on the GLIDER team, except for creation of a bug report. So this isn't really a bug, but a structural problem.

I assume my submission is not anonymous. If you desire to respond, try [[ REDACTED ]]

Thanks.

WorldWind display of orbital strips is corrupted

We have written a new GLIDER reader for TRMM TMI data and have noticed an issue with the WorldWind display. The images are long and narrow (104 pixels x 2918) strips with low spatial resolution (480m). The path of the orbit is not polar orbiting, instead the satellite makes a sinusoidal orbit above the equator in more of an east-west orientation. The WorldWind display seems to show the bounding box region correctly, but it incorrectly projects the image. I have attached a screenshot showing the dateline crossing where the error seems to occur: WorldWind display GLIDER bug
