Michael Goodman (NASA/MSFC; GHRC DAAC Manager) and Helen Conover (UAH/ITSC; GHRC Operations Manager) represented GHRC at the ESIP Federation Assembly, held in Chapel Hill, NC, July 9-12. As always, the meeting offered opportunities for valuable interactions with colleagues from NASA and other data systems. Mr. Goodman participated in sessions concerned with Earth science applications, information systems and computing, and natural disaster response. Ms. Conover participated in sessions addressing current issues in data stewardship, data discovery and metadata standards.

Dr. Rahul Ramachandran has been elected to serve as the chair of the IEEE Geosciences & Remote Sensing Society's (GRSS) Data Archiving and Distribution Technical Committee (DAD TC) for a two-year term.

Helen Conover and Rahul Ramachandran attended a Browse Imagery, Visualization, Data Discovery Technical Interchange Meeting in Hampton, VA, sponsored by NASA's Earth Science Data and Information Systems project.  The meeting was hosted by the NASA Langley Atmospheric Science Data Center, and involved several Earth science data centers including the Global Hydrology Resource Center, a partnership between NASA MSFC and UAH ITSC.  Ms. Conover presented systems currently in operation at GHRC, while Dr.

GHRC has published 4 satellite simulated orbit datasets for GPM Ground Validation research as part of the Global Precipitation Measurement mission.  The GPM Ground Validation Satellite Simulator Orbits Database datasets are available for several campaigns: Light Precipitation Evaluation Experiment (LPVEX), Midlatitude Continental Convective Clouds Experiment (MC3E) ,

Dr. Sara Graves and Ken Keiser represented GHRC at the Earth Cube Real-time Workshop in Boulder, CO, June 17-18. The workshop was held at UCAR and sponsored by NSF. GHRC presentations covered data management, visualization and collaboration activities for GPM Ground Validation; data provenance tools developed for the AMSR-E SIPS at GHRC; and new data search and analysis technologies being developed in the GHRC Innovations Laboratory.

GHRC has updated the guide for the NAMMA Lightning ZEUS Data dataset with information from the Principal Investigator.

Dr. Sara Graves, Sandra Harper and Manil Maskey represented GHRC at the Northern Gulf Coastal Hazards Collaboratory meeting in Mobile, AL, June 12-14.

GHRC has published two datasets from Light Precipitation Evaluation Experiment (LPVEx):  GPM Ground Validation Wyoming Cloud Radar (WCR) LPVEx and GPM Ground Validation Wyoming King Air Cloud Microphysics LPVEx.  Both of these datasets’ instruments gathered data while aboard the University of Wyoming King Air (UWKA) during September and October 2010 in the Gulf of Finland.  The Wyoming Cloud Radar, a Doppler radar, has reflectivity observ
